Define product vision (why are we doing this.)

This is the first important phase to any design. You need to understand it’s context for existence. Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.Being clear about the boundaries will help you stay focused.

Product strategy (how are we doing this.)

This is the second important phase to any design. Define the value proposition key aspects of the product : what it is, who it’s for and when and where is it used. A simple technique called working backwards can add clarity and definition to the vision of a product, (see what has been in relation to your vision and it’s product user response. This approach is especially important when developing new products or features. Within your strategy you can write up a description of the product and publish it, what the product dose and why it matters to them. This feedback will identify the potential of the product, (a seller or not.)

Define success criteria

It’s essential to have a clear business goal. Expected numbers of sales per month and establishing targets for evaluating progress, this helps to establish a more result driven process, (key performance indicators.)

Product research

Once the product vision is defined to maximise your chances of success, conduct insightful research before making any product decisions, remembering the time spent researching is never time wasted. Good research informs your product, aids you earlier in the design process to save you time and money because fewer adjustments will need to be made.

User research

This research enables you to understand what your users actually need. In person contact interviews with users to learn of the patterns in the interview that gets you an edge into the development of the product.
